Preparation : Just what you need to know !

Numbers that are exactly divisible by 2 are called even numbers. In other words, all multiples of 2 are even numbers. Thus, 2 is a factor of an even number. An even number has any of the digits 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8 in the units place.
Example: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, ... are even numbers.
Numbers that are not exactly divisible by 2 are called odd numbers. If an odd number is divided by 2, the remainder is 1. In other words, numbers that are not multiples of 2 are odd numbers. Thus, 2 is not a factor of an odd number. An odd number has any of the digits 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 in the units place.
Example: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, ... are odd numbers.
Consecutive even numbers as well as consecutive odd numbers differ by 2.
Example: 12 − 10 = 2; 15 − 13 = 2.
