the speakers are on a hill near one part of the battle feild in philippi.
pindarus is cassius`s slave who was captured in the battle of parthia and he
had promised his loyalty towards cassius . mesalla wishes to convey the news
of cassius`s death which would be as welecomed o the ears of brutus as the
venomed darts.
