   The climatic significance of the Himalayas is that :  
   
   (i) The Himalayan mountains prevent the bitter cold winds from Central Asia
   from entering into India.
   
   
   (ii) The Himalayan mountains bring about orographic rainfall as the mountain
   winds gets intercepted
