Parallels of latitude are imaginary lines that run east-west and are measured in degrees from 0o to 90o, north or south of the equator. Meridians of longitude are imaginary lines that run north-south between the two poles and are measured in degrees from 0o to 180o, east or west of the Prime Meridian.
