4  cups plain flour
2  teaspoon(s) baking powder
8  teaspoon(s) baking soda
8  teaspoon(s) salt
½  cup(s) white vegetable shortening
4  tablespoons white chocolate
½  cup(s) butter softened
8  cup(s) heaped caster (granulated) sugar
2  teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
3  eggs
8  cup(s) sour cream

  1. Preheat the oven to 425oF (220oC).
  2. Sift together the first four ingredients into a bowl.
  3. Place the shortening along with the grated white chocolate in a steel bowl. Hold the bowl over a pan of simmering water (double boiler) and stir till the mixture melts and smoothens.
  4. Add the butter, sugar and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric beater or a wooden spoon in another bowl till light and fluffy. Gradually add the eggs one at a time beating well after each addition.
  5. Fold in the sifted flour with a large metal spoon gently. Add the sour cream and mix well. Refrigerate the dough to chill well. Roll the dough to desired thickness. Cut out cookies of desired shapes with a cookie cutter. Arrange the cookies leaving enough space around each one on greased baking sheets.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10  minutes or till done (when the sides are brown and centre is firm). Let cool. Store in an airtight container.
