WORD NAMES FOR NUMBERS
Writing word names for higher numbers is done by the following two steps.
Step 1. Group the digits in sets of three from right to left.
Step 2. Write the word names from left to right.
Example. What is the word name for the number 12345?
The number 12345 may be represented to show the place value as in the table below.

Step 1. Group the digits of the number 12,345 in sets of three from right to left.
345 gives three hundred forty-five, and
12000 gives twelve thousand.
Step 2. Write the word name from left to right.
The word name for 12345 is twelve thousand three hundred forty-five.
