Help Pam Piela carry on a meaningful conversation in Japanese with the computer by selecting the appropriate response from the choices given below.
Note : Pam Piela is a Korean. She is forty five years old.
In Japan, 'san' is used as a suffix to a personal name and is the equivalent of Mr, Mrs, Miss and Master. 


1. Computer : Konbanwa to Irasshaimase!
Your response :
• Konban.

Answer: Konbanwa.
Japanese : Konbanwa to Irasshaimase!
English : Good Evening and welcome!

2. Computer : Onamae wa?
Your response :
• Watashi no namae desu.

• Watashi wa Pam Piela desu.
Answer: Watashi wa Pam Piela desu.
Japanese : Onamae wa? (nan desu ka?)

English : What is your name?
Japanese : Watashi wa Pam Piela desu. 
English : I am  / My name is Pam Piela.

3. Computer : Pam san, doko kara kimashita?

• Kankoku wa okuni desu.
• Watashi wa Pam Piela desu.
• Chūgoku kara kimashita.
• Kankoku kara kimashita.
Answer: Kankoku kara kimashita.
Japanese : Pam san, doko kara kimashita?
English : Pam, where do you come from?
Japanese : Kankoku kara kimashita 
English : I come from korea.


4. Computer : Dokushin desu ka kekkon shite imasu ka?
Your response :
• Hai, dokushin desu.
• Kekkon shite imasu.
• Hai, dokushin ja arimasen.
• Īe, kekkon shite imasu.
Answer: Kekkon shite imasu.
Japanese : Dokushin desu ka kekkon shite imasu ka?
English : Are you single or married?
Japanese : Watashi wa kekkon shite imasu.
English : I am married.

5. Computer : Sō desu ka. Nannin kazoku desu ka?
Your response :
• Yon nin kazoku desu.
• Kazoku wa desu.
• Kazoku wa Nihon ni imasu.
• Nan nin kazoku desu.
Answer: Yon nin kazoku desu.
Japanese : Sō desu ka. Nannin kazoku desu ka? 
English : I see. How many members are there in your family?
Japanese : Yon nin kazoku desu.
English :There are four family members.

6. Computer : Nan nin kodomo ga arimasu ka?

• Futari kodomo ga arimasu. 
• Hai, futari kodomo ga arimasu.

Answer: Futari kodomo ga arimasu. 
Japanese : Nan nin kodomo ga arimasu ka?
English : How many children do you have?
Japanese : Futari kodomo ga imasu.
English : I have two children.
Note : 'nin' is suffixed to the number when counting people. However, one and two are exceptions.
One person = hitotsu ; two people = futari.

7. Computer : Karera wa nan sai desu ka?
Your response :
• Musume to musuko ga arimasu.
• Musume wa hatachi desu. Musuko wa jū go sai desu. 
• Musume to musuko wa gakusei desu.
• Karera wa gakusei desu.
Answer: Musume wa hatachi desu. Musuko wa jū go sai desu. 
Japanese : Karera wa nan sai desu ka? 
English : How old are they?
Japanese : Musume wa hatachi desu. Musuko wa jū go sai desu.
English : My daughter is twenty years old. My son is fifteen years old.
Note: years old = sai. However, 20 years old = hatachi, not ni jū sai.

8. Computer : Ī desu ne. Nan sai desu ka Pam san?
Your response :
• Jūgo sai desu.
• Shi jūgo sai desu.
• Shi jūgo sai dewa arimasen.
• Shi jūgo sai armasu.
Answer: Shi jūgo sai desu.
Japanese : Ī desu ne. Nan sai desu ka Pam san?
English : That's nice. How old are you Pam?
Japanese : Shi jūgo sai desu.
English :  I'm forty five years old.

9. Computer : Hatarakimasu ka Pam san?

• Hai, watashi wa kaisha no shukan desu.
• Hai, hatarakimasen.
Īe, kaisha de hatara kimasu.

Japanese : Hatarakimasu ka Pam san?
English : Are you working Pam?
Japanese : Hai, watashi wa kaisha no shukan desu.
English :  Yes, I am a company manager.

10. Computer : Sugoi! Nan nin kaishain desu ka?
Your response :
• Go jū nin kaishain kurai desu.
• Jimusho de hatarakimasu.
• Kaisha de hatarakimasu.
• Go jū kaishain arimasu.
Answer: Go jū nin kaishain kurai desu.
Japanese : Sugoi! Nan nin kaishain desu ka?
English : Wonderful! How many employees are there in the company?
Japanese : Go jū kaishain kurai desu.
English : There are about fifty employees.

11. Computer : Nan nen kan o hataraite imasu ka?

• Hai, watashiwa hatarakimasu.
• Ni jū nen o hataraite imasu.
• Hai, watashiwa hataraite imasu.
• Ni jū sai o hataraite imasen.
Answer: Ni jū nen o hataraite imasu.
Japanese : Nan nen kan o hataraite imasu ka? 
English : Since how many years have you been working?
Japanese : Ni jū nen o haraitte imasu.
English : I am working since twenty years.

12. Computer : Nan ji ni ban gohan o tabemasu ka Pan san?

• Futsū wa bangohan o tabemasu.

13. Computer : Pam san, ima nan ji desu ka?

15. Computer : Ah, Ohanashi dekite yo katta desu yo! Shitsurei shimasu Pam san.

• Dōzo, sumimasen.
