What is a SyvumBook?
Syvum Technologies invented SyvumBooks. A SyvumBook is a computer software
with the look and feel of a book in terms of chapters and pages. It is an
electronic book on a computer that can automatically transform its content
and, in some cases, be customized for content by the user.
A SyvumBook is a software in that it will produce outputs dependent on the
user inputs using the power of the computer in terms of its number-crunching,
database, and multimedia capabilites. However, it is different from
conventional software that is used more for particular applications than
as a learning medium. Conventional software often requires extensive
training to use. This is partly because there is no explicit start and end
to the software. A SyvumBook will logically start at the front cover and
end at the back cover, making it relatively easy to study.
A SyvumBook is similar to a book in that it has a front cover, sections,
chapters, and a back cover. However, it is not "dead" as a book where the
material is frozen by the author. It is alive and hot! It can "talk" to
and interact with the reader.
In general, it uses state-of-the-art multimedia technology... color, images,
animation, music and sound to facilitate learning. Furthermore, its content
especially in problem-solving exercises and activity sections is dynamic.
The changing content allows for variety and customization.
